Fen Fenwick

Fen studied classical percussion at Eastern Illinois University where he received a BA in music education. He was a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, while pursuing a master’s degree in percussion performance. A graduate of the United States Army Element School of Music in Norfolk, VA., Fen has most recently attended jazz studies at Georgia State University.

Fen is a veteran of the United States Army, having served five years as an interrogator and Korean linguist before re-classing into the band field as an army drummer. He has played before three United States presidents, five heads of state and several dignitaries in venues around the world, to include the Budokan Stage in Tokyo, Japan. Of the numerous performances in his career, the ceremonies at Fort Benning’s Ranger Memorial are most revered. Upon his exit from the military, Fen moved to the Atlanta area where he began teaching and performing freelance. In addition to playing frequent gigs with the Capital City Xpress, Fen stays sharp, playing with other jazz ensembles in town. He is also the one-man percussion section behind The Bavarian Express, Atlanta’s premier German/Oktoberfest Band.

Fen is married to Atlanta musician and vocalist, Maria Rossoto, and can be heard playing drums on her recent album, Friends in the Garden. Released in 2017, Friends… is a multi-genre CD that teaches kids (and adults) about organic gardening. They live in Decatur, Georgia where they “catur” to three felines.
